STATE ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA
PROFILES OF THE SEC PRESIDENT, HER DEPUTY, AND MEMBERS
STEVO PENDAROVSKI (PRESIDENT OF THE STATE ELECTION COMMISSION)
- Law degree from the Faculty of Law at the “St.
Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje
- Worked for ten years at the Ministry of Interior
of the Republic of Macedonia, where among other posts he served
as Assistant Minister for Public Relations and Head of the Analytical
and Research Department
- Worked as the National Security Adviser to the
President of the Republic of Macedonia, a position he has held
since June 2001
- He is married to Elizabeta. They have a son,

SAFET ALIU (DEPUTY)
- Mr. Aliu was born in 1948 in Gorno Sedlarce
(Tetovo).
- He graduated from the Prishtina Law Faculty
in 1973. He was first employed by the municipality of Tetovo.
- Mr. Aliu was elected as a judge of the Municipal
Court in Tetovo in 1976 and in 1996 he was elected to the office
of judge of the Appellate Court.
- In 2000, he was elected as a Supreme Court judge.
MEMBERS
NIKOLCHO NIKOLOVSKI (judge of the Supreme Court
of the Republic of Macedonia)
- Mr. Nikolovski was born in 1955 in Skopje.
He graduated from the Law Faculty in Skopje in 1981.
- He was elected as a Supreme Court judge in
2002.
- Previously, he worked for the transportation
and freight forwarding company “Makosped” as a department manager.
- Mr. Nikolovski was a deputy member of the SEC for the 2000 Local Elections.
SABIT KRANLI (judge of the Supreme Court of the
Republic of Macedonia)
- Mr. Kranli was born in 1945 in Resen. In 1968
he graduated from the Skopje Law Faculty.
- Between 1971 and 1995, he served as a judge
in the Resen Municipal Court. He has been serving as a Supreme
Court judge since 1995.
DANE ILIEV (judge of the Supreme Court of the
Republic of Macedonia)
- Mr. Iliev was born in 1951 in Kriva Palanka.
He is a law graduate from the Skopje Law Faculty.
- Between 1977 and 1998, he served as a judge
in the courts of first and second instance in Skopje.
- He was elected as a Supreme Court judge in
1998.
AJET MEHMETI (judge of the Supreme Court of the
Republic of Macedonia)
- Mr. Mehmeti was born on July 30, 1942 in the
village of Dolno Palciste (Tetovo).
- He graduated from the Pristina Law Faculty
and passed his bar exam in 1976.
- Between 1965 and 1976, he worked as a clerk
in the municipality of Tetovo.
- In 1976, he was elected as a municipal court
judge and in 1996 he was elected as an Appellate Court judge.
- In 2002, he was elected as a Supreme Court
judge.
- Mr. Mehmeti was president of the Tetovo Municipal
Election Commission in the previous elections, as well as president
of the election commission for electing Members of Parliament.
ISAMEDIN LIMANI (proposed to the SEC by PDP)
- Mr. Limani was born in 1966 in the village of
Dobarce (Zelino).
- He graduated from the Pristina Law Faculty and
passed the bar exam in Skopje.
- Mr. Limani worked for the Tetovo Local Council
as a municipal clerk. Since 1996, he has worked as Secretary
for the municipality of Zelino.
XHEMALI SAITI (proposed to the SEC by DPA)
- Mr. Saiti was born in 1967 in the village of
Glumovo (Skopje).
- He graduated from the Skopje Law Faculty and
worked as a lawyer and a journalist until 1995 at Radio Skopje,
program in Albanian language; TV Era and Radio Arta.
- From 1996 until 1999, he worked as an attorney
at law in Skopje.
- Mr. Saiti was the Minister of Local Self-Government
between 1999 and 2001.
- After 2001, he continued working as an attorney
at law and became Head of one of the DPA branches and a member
of the central presidency of the party. He is also Vice-President
of the 2002 State Census Committee.
MERI MLADENOVSKA-GJORGJIEVSKA (proposed to the
SEC by SDSM)
- Ms Mladenovska – Gjorgjievska was born in 1969
in Kriva Palanka.
- She graduated from the Skopje Law Faculty in
1992, after which she started working as a law clerk in Skopje.
After passing the bar exam in 1994, she was listed in the address
book of attorneys of the Bar Chamber of the Republic of Macedonia.
Since that time she has worked as an attorney.
- From 1998-2002, she served as a judge of the
Disciplinary Court of the Bar Chamber. Since May 2002, she has
been a member of the Managing Board of the Macedonian Bar Association.
- She has previous experience with elections
as a deputy member of the SEC for the 2000 Local Elections.
KIRIL ANDONOVSKI (proposed to the SEC by VMRO-DPMNE)
- Mr. Andonovski was born in 1937 in the village
of Dolno Melicani (Debar).
- He is a Law Faculty graduate.
- Mr. Andonovski used to work as a secondary school
teacher and as chief of staff at the Chair Municipal Council.
- Between 1986 and 1990, he was a deputy at the
Joint Labor Council of the Assembly of the Socialist Republic
of Macedonia and vice-president of the legislative-legal commission
of the Assembly of the City of Skopje.
- Mr. Andonovski was elected as a member of Parliament
in 1998. He is the chairperson of the Parliamentary Legislative
Committee and of the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with
the parliaments of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland.

BILJANA STOJANOVSKA
- Born in Skopje on May 25, 1951
- Law degree from the Law Faculty in Skopje.
- Professional working experience: 28 years.
- Professional experience:
From April 01, 1976 until November 01, 1987. - worked in the
bodies of federal administration in Belgrade.
From January 01, 1987 until now - working in the Parliament
of the Republic of Macedonia as:
- Secretary of the Board for Social-Economic Relations at the
Municipality Council;
- Secretary of the Committee for Agriculture, Forestry and Water
Resource Management;
- Secretary of the Committee for Marking Anniversaries of Important
Events and People;
- Independent Adviser at the Department for Working Bodies;
- Head of the Unit of the Department for Working Bodies;
- Secretary of the Committee for Election and Appointment Issues
in the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia
DEPUTY SECRETARY
RASIM MUSTAFA
- He was born in 1995 in the village Blace – Skopje.
He graduated from the Skopje Law Faculty.
- Mr. Rasim Mustafa used to work as Department
Head at the company “Trgotekstil” in Skopje. Since 1998, he
was a member of State Commission on the Voters’ List, and in
2000 he was appointed by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia
as Assistant Minister of Transportation and Communications.
- In July 2002 he was appointed as deputy
Secretary of SEC.
